Hi there,
I have never thought I would get there....
Since August I have off and on a sharp pain under my left foot, it comes and normally goes
Monday I had a varicose vein surgery and I have to wear one of these rubberised surgical stockings (black, sexy). Yesterday the pain under the foot returned and due to the pressure of the stocking it didn't go away over night.
Wednesday til Friday there is fishing planned and there is no way I am going to miss this. It is a three hour drive and I can't push the clutch  , now I am taking prescription painkillers and waiting for things to improve.
That is the first time in my 33 year fishing career that I am doping to get fishing, Anyone else ever been down that road.

The forums are very quiet
The Global FlyFisher forum has existed for almost as long as the site, and the oldest posts are more than 20 years old. Forums aren't what they used to be. Social media has taken over a lot of their roles, and the GFF form is very quiet ... to put it mildly.
We keep everything online for the sake of history, and preserve the posts for as long as possible, but as you will see, quite a few of them aren't in a good shape, but rely on old images hosted elsewhere, which are no longer available, odd codes from old systems and much more, which can't be shown in a decent way.
But the posts are here, and you can - if you insist - start new threads. But don't stay awake waiting for replies, because they are unfortunately few and far apart.

Florian,
Florian,
Really sorry to hear about your agony. Hopefully it will disappear once the surgery heals...
EPO, stereoids, pain-killers, blood doping... you have to go fishing! And I'm sure standing with the sore foot in cold water will help!
And no, no doping for me, but crutches, support bandages and even a wheelchair has been (is) on my tab. We don't get any younger.

Hi Martin,
Hi Martin,
thanks for the compassion. The fishing worked, although rest would have done the foot a lot better. But as you rightly wrote fishing must be.
The fishing suffered a little from the rain. Although the water immediately under the dam didn't cloud, the river gained about a half meter within half a day, making wading close to impossible. Best fishing was Friday morning.
I share your positive view on zonker flies. The best one was a simple black design size 8 with dumbel eyes, fished on a sink tip. Perhaps I put this into a little tying instruction over the winter, It has a cousin without the weight and they are pretty effecitve, best fish was a chubby 40 cm brown.

You might have plantar
You might have plantar fasciitis. I had it. Cured it in 2011. Walk on a treadmill for 30 seconds; hang off the side on the balls of your feet, and stretch your feet with heels down. Hurts like hell. Repeat. Vary length of walk and stretch. Do for twenty minutes a day, or more if you can. Walk and stretch. Rest. Repeat. After a while it won't hurt any more. Keep walking and stretching. I haven't had it since.
